What if you actually went for it, you did the thing that keeps presenting itself? What if you set aside the fear and took the next step? What would be the next step for you? What will it take to give in to the voice in your head that says “Yes”?
As a woman of faith I look to the examples of biblical stories where taking a leap of faith means listening to God’s voice, listening and acting. Queen Esther trying to save her people, Daniel in the lions den, Moses and his many faith-wrestling matches, Jonah in the belly of a whale, the sisters Mary and Martha witnessing miracles, and of course Jesus laying down his life for us.
A leap is going from one position to another, usually demonstrated in definition though dance. As a former dancer leaping across the stage was a freeing act of art, one of my favorite things to do. Taking a leap going from one place to another can mean taking a different position in many ways. Whether your leap of faith involves what you think, how you act, where you are or your fundamental why I encourage you to take one.
Faith is believing in something without visible proof. To me taking a leap of faith means stepping up to the blank canvas and painting the story. Falling in backwards into a tub of possibilities Mary Poppins style. Conquering the fears head on without reservation. Whatever it means for you, whatever you envision as a leap of faith, do it. Take the leap of faith, give in to the voice in your head, the one tugging at your heart strings.
